- Acceptance of The Inspirer’s General Terms of Use
These General Terms of Use (hereinafter abbreviated as “GTU”) govern your access to and use of the The Inspirer’s website, services and products.
Please read the GTU carefully and contact us if you have any questions, comments or if you want more information.
By accessing or using our website, services you agree to be bound by these GTU and by our Privacy Policy.
The Inspirer reserves the right to amend the GTU at any time in order to adapt them to the developments of the Services offered by The Inspirer as well as current legislation.
The GTU applicable are those in force on the date each time you log onto the Website. Therefore, all Users are advised to check these GTU on each visit to be informed of the latest version.
Users are made aware of amendments of the GTU simply through their online publication and any such amendments are deemed as accepted without reservation by any User accessing the Website after they have been published online.
2. What is the purpose of the Terms of Use ?
The purpose of these GTU is to clearly spell out the terms and conditions under which The Inspirer makes the website theinspirer.news (hereinafter called the “Website”) available to users.
It also spells out the terms governing users’ access, visits and submissions to this Website.

By accessing the Website, you agree to the GTU as it determines the access to and use of the Website.

“Content” is anything that can be read, heard or seen on the Website. It is the articles, photographs, images, text, illustrations, sounds, recordings, podcasts and videos that you find here.
“User Content” is any of the articles, photographs, images, text, illustrations, sounds, recordings, podcasts and videos that are submitted by the Users in the various “Sharing Spaces” provided by the Website.
“Sharing Spaces” are the Website pages we provide for Users so that they can submit an article, submit an idea or participate in Emotional Voting.
“Services” refers to any services produced by The Inspirer that are accessible on and/or from the Website.
“Website” refers to the website theinspirer.news that is produced by The Inspirer, regardless of how the Website is accessed (computer, mobile, mobile and/or tablet apps).
“User(s)” simply means anybody who uses the Website.
4. Users
Protection of Minors
If the User is a minor, the User hereby declares and acknowledges having obtained the prior authorisation to visit the Website from the person/ persons with parental authority or legal guardianship over the User.
If the User is a minor, the User’s parents, legal guardians or those with parental authority over the User are the guarantor(s) of compliance with all of the provisions in these GTU when the minor User uses the Website.
Parents, legal guardians or those with parental authority over the minor User are directed to supervise the use of the Website by their children (or the children in their charge).
It is the responsibility of the minor User’s parents, legal guardians or those with parental authority over the minor User to determine whether the Website is or is not suitable for the child(ren) in their charge and to supervise their use thereof.

No minor is allowed to create a User Account on the Website.
User Accounts
Access to the Website is free and does not require registration although some services, such as subscribing to the The Inspirer newsletter, may require a User Account.
Create a valid User Account by completing a registration form. This form asks for a minimal amount of personal information – first name, surname and email address; you can then create a user ID and password. User ID and password information is strictly personal and confidential.
Personal data is stored with the User’s consent and our data storage policy is described in our Privacy Policy.
Accessing Third-party Services from the Website
If you access a third-party services or social media platform such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn directly from the Website, you may need to use the user ID you have created for these services.
Creating and using these accounts and providing any personal data to these third-party services is governed by the terms of use and the personal data protection policy specific to each third-party service, releasing The Inspirer from any liability in this respect.
5. Sharing Spaces on the Website
The website provides different spaces that allow users to share information with the Website.
Emotional Votes
Users have the opportunity to give Emotional Votes to articles posted on the Website (hereinafter called “Emotional Votes”). Any such individual Emotional Vote is personal and strictly confidential and cannot be seen by any other User using the Website except for the fact that each Emotional Vote is aggregated by The Inspirer for the purposes of providing aggregate feedback on the total number of all Emotional Votes cast by Users.
Share an Idea/Share and article
Users also have the opportunity to submit ideas and articles for publication on the Website (hereinafter called “Submissions”) including text, videos, sounds, images and/or photographs (hereinafter called “User Content).
Prior to the mutually agreed decision to publish, Submissions and User Content submitted to The Inspirer are confidential and are subject to review solely by The Inspirer and are not accessible to any Internet user visiting the Website.
Any User who makes a Submission of User Content expressly authorises The Inspirer to store, reproduce and represent said User Content free of charge and on a non-exclusive basis, for the entire duration of the intellectual property rights upon their publication.
Users remain liable for any User Content submitted and under no circumstances may The Inspirer be held liable for User Content submitted to The Inspirer by a User who does not hold the rights required for such a Submission.
It is hereby agreed that User Content may be subject to editing and may be reformatted (especially the article titles, font, size and spelling) prior to publication on the Website (cf “User Contributions”). No substantive changes shall be made to the Submissions and/or User Content without the express prior written consent of the User who is the author of said User Content.
Governing Law
No User shall make Submissions of User Content to the Website which do not comply with current legislation in France.
Furthermore, the Users undertake to make Submissions of User Content which:
- are relevant to and connected with the topic of Solutions Journalism
- are easy to read and understand,
- avoiding the use of any but the most common abbreviations
- avoid texting language and slang
- avoid the overuse of “ALL CAPS” text
The Inspirer may, at its sole discretion and without prejudice, delete any Submission and/or User Content should the said Submission and/or User Content contravene the current French legislation.
6. Concerning Intellectual Property
Website Components and Site Content
The Inspirer grants Users non-transferable, free, non-exclusive, personal and private authorisation to use the Services and the Website solely for personal and private use, in strict accordance these GTU.
However, anything that can be seen, heard or read on the Website including articles, photographs, images, text, illustrations, sounds, recordings, podcasts and videos, music, software programmes, databases, logos, trademarks and other reproduced elements is protected under intellectual property law. This protected material is the property of The Inspirer and/or its partners.
In compliance with intellectual property law, no reproduction, in whole or in part and no transfer to another website of any protected material from the Website is permitted without prior written authorisation from The Inspirer and/or the appropriate rights holder.
Any unauthorised use of any protected material (including screenshots, downloading, photographing, printing, recording etc.) could be an infringement of copyright and could result in civil and/or criminal prosecution and the payment of damages.
Trademark Protections
The trademarks of The Inspirer and of its partners, including the logos on the Website, are registered trademarks and are protected by industrial property law (Article L 713-2 et seq. of the French Intellectual Property Code).
The use of these trademarks or logos is prohibited, unless prior, written authorisation has been given by their owners.
User Contributions
Any User making a Submission of User Content guarantees to The Inspirer that such User has the necessary rights for submitting such Content.
Users expressly agree to transfer to The Inspirer the right to reproduce, represent, copy, modify, reformat, re-publish, communicate, distribute, adapt and generally use free of charge and on a non-exclusive basis, all or part of the Submissions and/or User Content on the Website and/or on pages of The Inspirer’s social media accounts regardless of how they are accessed (computer, mobile, mobile and/or tablet apps), for the entire period during which the intellectual property rights relating to the Submission and/or User Content are legally protected.
The User expressly acknowledges and accepts that Submissions and/or User Content may be reformatted and hereby expressly assigns the necessary adaptation rights.
No article submitted for by a User for publication on the Website shall be published without the User’s prior express written consent.
The User expressly acknowledges and accepts that no use of Submissions and/or User Content by The Inspirer under these GTU shall give rise to any financial compensation.
7. Hyperlinks
Hyperlinks found on the Website may lead to other third-party websites. Users are solely responsible for their visits to such third-party websites. The Inspirer cannot be held liable for having provided the User with a hyperlink whether this link directs to a whole document or a specific part of a document nor can The Inspirer be held liable for the content on such third-party websites.
Under no circumstances may the User hold The Inspirer liable for any direct or indirect, ancillary or incidental damages suffered as a result of using a third-party website accessible via a hyperlink found on the Website.
8. Local Legislation
The Inspirer allows the Website to be accessed from any country, however such access is strictly subject to current local legislation and all applicable restrictions imposed by such legislation.
Any User accessing the Website from a computer, mobile, mobile and/or tablet apps located outside French territory expressly acknowledges that the User has read, understood and accepted without reserve the terms of these GTU and agrees to satisfy the requirements of any local legislation and any applicable local restrictions.
Due to territorial restrictions or other limitations, some Content on the Website may not be available for access in certain areas. Therefore, Users who access the Website from a computer, mobile, mobile and/or tablet apps located in these areas hereby acknowledge that they are prohibited from using any system for circumventing tracking measures designed to enable access to such content from these areas.
9. Website Accessibility
The Website and the Services are designed to be accessible without interruption and The Inspirer undertakes reasonable efforts to guarantee the accessibility of the Website and Services. The Inspirer shall not be held liable for any disruption or malfunctioning related to the connection, maintenance operations, editorial updating, network and/or information system congestion, intrusion by unauthorised third parties and contamination by any viruses, improper configuration or use of the computer, mobile, mobile and/or tablet apps by the User or any other cause within or beyond its control.
Likewise, The Inspirer shall not be held liable if the disruption or deterioration of the quality of the Website and Services is due to the occurrence of a case of force majeure. A case of force majeure is considered to be any event defined by French legislation and the case law of the French Court of Cassation.
10. Editorial Content
The Inspirer undertakes to make every reasonable effort to guarantee the truthfulness and accuracy of the information on the Website, but may not be held liable for its inaccuracy, nor for any use and interpretation made of it by the User.
The Inspirer shall not be held liable for any direct or indirect damage, ancillary or incidental, resulting from the use of the Website or any information obtained from the Website.
The Inspirer reserves the right without prejudice to make improvements and/or modifications to the Website and its Services at any time without prior notice.
11. Full Agreement
These GTU are subject to and interpreted in accordance with French law. Any dispute relating to the interpretation, application or execution of these GTU which is not resolved by compromise within 30 (thirty) days following notification of the dispute by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt, shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the French Court of Nanterre.
Should any part of the provisions of these GTU prove to be illegal, invalid or inapplicable for whatever reason, the term or terms in question will be declared invalid and the remaining terms shall retain their full force and effect and continue to apply.
